Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal & Coconut Cookies
We made a batch of these for a friend of ours recently and they were so good we have already made a couple of batches for dinner parties and meetings. The best cookie ever.

Dead Christmas Basket
I was walking down the street and noticed this sitting on someones porch. it didn't quite turn out as vibrant as I wanted because there was not enough contrast between the colors of the cones and boughs and the brick wall in the background. Live and learn.

Shadow Peace Sign
The shadow of this bare tree on the hard crusted snow made for a creepy looking peace sign late at night.

Cookie Tin Ballerina
This little girl in a tutu and stockings, was playing with an empty cookie tin and when she stepped up onto it ( with the help of her mother) it really reminded me of the ballerina music boxes that little girls might own. I was so happy the settings were ready to deal with the harsh light from the sliding door they were standing in front of.

Peter's Indian Birthday Dinner Pt 2 - The Food
All these home made dishes were excellent. Thanks muchly to Camille, Jenn and Patrick for all the time they spent getting the food ready. By far the best meal I have had in a long time.

Peter's Indian Birthday Dinner
My Mother In Law hosted a birthday party last Sunday for her Son Peter. He suggested Indian food and was expecting some take out food and indigestion. He wasn't expecting it to be an all out event with outfits, decorations and home cooked Indian dishes.
Ramona spent a lot of time on the decorations, even going so far as to get tiny stick on gems to decorate the table cloth and cutlery.

Riding Around On The 37
I took this shot from half way back on the bus one night. These little boxes in the front window of the bus make a great silhouette against the store fronts on the approaching cross street.

Reflective Surfaces
This side door shed is just around the corner from my place. One afternoon while waiting for the bus I bent down to tie my shoe and noticed that from that vantage point the service station roof on the other side of the block was reflected in the old window panes. It almost comes off as a painting.

Backlit Graffiti Pt 3
Another installation in the series. Reds at top and bottom from Traffic and tail lights with some store front neon up the middle. The grittiness of the dried rain stains on the glass adds some texture to the image.

Morning Motivation
A shot of the foam on my latte this morning. I catch some great natural light in my kitchen between 11am and 3pm.

Nalin On A Super Lazy Sleep In Day
The post title just about says it all. After breakfast it was back to bed reading time. I couldn't resist getting a couple of shots of her in the good light.

Commercial Construction : Black & White
Today I revisited the construction site while out on my walk and took some black & white photos. For the most part, I was looking for lines and shadows. It isn't a real interesting building that is going up, but there was still some good subject matter.

Commercial Construction
I was surprised to find out how much color there was around the construction site. I would not have expected to find vibrant blues, greens and yellows.

The Crane
There has been a couple of cranes dominating the skyline near my house for a few months. I took the opportunity last Sunday to take a walk to the construction site and get a ton of shots of the area while no one was around. The sky in this photo turned out amazing.

Hydro Poles
I really liked all the intersecting right angles in this shot. I also liked the way there are no wires leading away from the closest pole. End of the line.

The bright Red Fire Truck.
I was out for a walk, and heard the sirens turn up the street I was on. Luckily I already had my camera out and the settings were already at a high shutter speed because of the bright sun. I got off about ten shots tracking the two trucks. I cropped this one down to what i thought were interesting angles.

Rusty Outdoor Sconce
This photo, for me, was more about the shadows playing on the striations of the bricks than about the light fixture itself. Great texture.
