The shadow of this bare tree on the hard crusted snow made for a creepy looking peace sign late at night.

Shadows In Late Afternoon Light

These images were taken during the cookie making marathon. The afternoon sunlight coming in the patio doors and through the open vertical blinds was creating some great shadows on the dinning room wall. Good quality subjects for the shadows to play on didn't hurt. The painting is an original by my father in law's sister Helene.

Time Creeps On

This was another shot that I waited for. When I first spied it as a target, it was 10:30 AM and the shadow was almost nonexistent. An hour and a half later and it was almost there. I waited another eight minutes to make sure the bottom of the clock and the shadow were on the same slat of wood. I was also happy that even the hands of the clock had shadows.

Jolicoeur Bridge

One of my favorite midday photo subjects is concrete. Concrete and shadows. All straight line, always moving. These images were taken on a small bridge spanning the canal on De la Verandrye. It has been earmarked as one of the 13 most critically dangerous structures on the island, so I went to take a few shots one afternoon because a shutdown and possible rebuild is in it's future. Of the eight bridges that cross the Canal de Aqueduc this is by far my favorite and has the best view of downtown.



The shadows of the pillars in the photo above almost give a stair effect, dividing the walkway into cells of white light. The picture would be so much more without the jumper fence, but what can you do?
